ROCK YOUR SOCKS 2024

This year we have celebrated Rock Your Socks in style! The children and staff made a super effort to wear their best socks to bring attention to World Downs Syndrome awareness day.

We have made a giant rainbow to go in our school grounds. A big thank you to Wickes Glossop for sponsoring our project with the varnish on our rocks.

We have two talented, creative, thoughtful, humorous, clever and loving pupils with Downs Syndrome at our school and as ever, are immensely proud of them both.

Dear Parents & Carers,

At Dukes, we recognise the importance that all children feel included in every aspect of school life. We celebrate difference and adapt practise to ensure that learning is accessible and individual, to the child's needs.  We want our school to give children a platform to meet their potential and access all areas of the curriculum.

This page gives information on Special Educational Needs and Disabilities and how we work with parents and families to meet the needs of every child. I regularly update the page to give current information and signpost services that may be of interest. You may be reading this as a prospective parent or maybe your child is already with us at Dukes. No matter your interest in the page, if you don't find the information that you are looking for then please do email me to see if I can support you further.

Kind regards,

Kate Hadfield

What is Autism?

In 2023, the Teachers and Teaching Assistants started receiving training from the Autistic Society to become Autism Advocates. This training supports staff to identify and support the needs of our Neuro Diverse children. Here is a quick guide to Autism.

16% of autistic people and their families think the public understand autism in a meaningful way. We want to change this and create a society that works for autistic people, and with your help, we can. Share our new film, 'What is autism?' this #AutismAwarenessWeek, narrated by our ambassador, Alan Gardner. 2021
